1973 Gibson Les Paul Recording

This little beauty is one of about 5,300 of this model made during the 1970's. Designed specifically for Les, himself, as he rejoined with Gibson after an eight year break, the Les Paul Recording incorporated Les' ideals for a studio guitar. These features included low impedance pickups for direct recording, and an onboard transformer that brings the signal up to high impedance for playing through an amp. There is an onboard "Decade", rotary switch which is a passive tone switch similar to the varitone found on other Gibson guitars. There is also a passive treble and bass control and a pickup phase switch.

The body and neck are completely made of Honduran Mahogany. This particular example does have changed tuners, but everything else is original. It plays and sounds quite amazing, and less than the price of a new Les Paul Standard. In this photo it is being escorted by two new National Reso-phonics, a Style 0 Deluxe and an Estralita Deluxe Koa (see below previous picks). SOLD!

New, Martin Custom Shop 000/12-28
This idea seemed like an obvious one to us at the shop. Take the D12-28, big, bold, and almost overwhelming for anyone under 5'10'' to play, and shrink it down to auditorium size. This incredible sounding 12 string is really more of an "OM" since it incorporates the "D" neck on a "000" body, much like an OM-28 (25.4" scale vs. 24.9" on a six string auditorium). Unlike an "OM" 6 string, the braces aren't scalloped, which would ultimately make the top too weak for the tension of 12 strings. Tonally, this 12er utilizes the solid Indian Rosewood back and sides to produce warm, bassy undertones, while the smaller body gives each note more presence and clarity than its dreadnought siblings. And the 000/12-28 is very comfortable to sit down with for long periods of play. SOLD!

70's Gretsch Chet Atkins
"Super Axe"
This beauty is a near mint condition example of the "Super Axe", designed by Chet himself, for Gretsch. To suit his playing style, this model has a built-in phaser and compressor, both studio quality, and both working perfectly. It is all original with the original hardshell case. This is also one of the best playing guitars I have ever had in the store. Appointments include two Dimarzio humbucking pickups(original), ebony fingerboard, jumbo frets, fully intonatable bridge, phaser and compressor with on-off switches and individual controls, and even the Burns gearbox wrench for the truss rod. SOLD!

national westwood 77
->1964 National Westwood 77
November 13, 2006.
This is an all original, National "map" guitar, named as such because, on it's side, it resembles a map of the United States. Unlike their siblings, the Val-Pro/ Newports and the Glenwoods, which are Res-o-glas (hollow, fiberglass bodies), the Westwoods are solid, hardwood bodies. The top of the line in it's series, this Westwood has a cherry stain finish, two magnetic pick-ups and a third pick-up built into the clear plexi bridge. It plays well and really sounds amazing.

New, National Resophonic
"Estralita Deluxe Koa Custom"
Just arrived from National Resophonic, this is the most incredible resonator the fine craftspeople at National have yet produced for us. The koa is beautifully figured. The rope binding is exquisitely inlaid with maple and ebony forming the dark/light pattern. The craftsmanship is perfect, and the tone...this single cone, bisquit bridge, round necked beauty sings loudly, and rich with warm overtones. We custom ordered this one with the rope binding to really set it apart from it's siblings. It arrived July 5th and is prominantly displayed for your (and our) viewing pleasure.

. Like all 000-28's, this is solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, with a traditional 24.9" scale and non-scalloped braces. But the top on this is stunning, with moderately wide grained, Sitka spruce, and a rich, perfectly executed, 1935 stlyle, sunburst finish. (And it sounds as good as it looks). Come check it out.
